Training for Indian Postal Service Probationers is conducting in three modules. The aims & objectives of each of the modules is listed below:
Module-I: Postal Operations
The course is designed to introduce the freshly recruited Indian Postal Service Probationers are introduced to various services offered by the department. They are also explored to all the areas of Operations in the Department with a focus on Postal and Mails operations. They are also exposed to various application softwares used in the Department, both online & offline. This module also contains an attachment with the Bureau of Parliamentary studies and Lok Sabha Secretariat. Training is interspersed with adventure activities like trekking and rock climbing.
Objectives:
(i) Explain the details of Postal and mails operations
(ii) Listing out the new initiatives of the Department in financial services.
(iii) Understand Savings Bank operations, including Core Banking Solutions.
(iv) Understand Business Development Products and Business strategy of India Post.
(v) Explain features of Rural PLI, Postal Life Insurance, its various schemes and Life Insurance Fund.
(vi) Learn various softwares of India Post.
(vii) List out the items of work to be carried out in a Project Arrow Post Offices.
Module-II: Management functions related to Postal operations
This module is designed to expose the Probationers to all areas of Administration with a focus on Personnel Management. In depth training on service rules, Disciplinary matters, Vigilance Administration, Accounts and Finance is imparted. Training is interspersed with Adventure Activities such as trekking and rock climbing. At the end of this module, the Probationers proceed a Bharat Darshan to various important Postal facilities across India. They also undergo an attachment with Army Postal Service to understand the functioning of the service.
Objectives:
(i) Know the details of all Service and Administrative Rules and procedures.
(ii) Explain fundamental rules, general financial rules, budget and accounting procedures, leave rules etc.
(iii) Acquire knowledge of establishment and personnel matters.
(iv) Acquire the skill applying these rules in various situations.
Module III: General Management Principles and Practices
This module is devoted to Management Studies. The probationers are given training on soft skills and Organizational Behaviour, Establishment, Financial Management, Office Management, Marketing Management etc. This Module of training is interspersed with Army Postal Service attachment where the young officers get a first hand understanding of the role, responsibility and function of APS. In this Module, the Probationers give presentation on Book Review, Group Work and Dissertation.
Objectives:
(i) Acquire the Managerial Tools for effective office management.
(ii) Learn to analyze financial statements.
(iii) Learn the tools for costing and cost benefit analysis.
(iv) Explain current economic scenario and its impact on service sector.
