About Us

This training centre was formed on 25-08-1981. It is situated at a place called Perungudi, 9 KM south of the Madurai City. The original proposal was to have P & T staff quarters here. Later it was planned by the Postmaster-General, Madras, to start a Postal Training Centre in this place utilizing the 72 quarters. Initially the training centre started functioning with a total strength of 25 trainees in a classroom.

Then Hon. Minister for Communications Thiru.C. M. Stephen, laid foundation stone for the faculty block on 06.09.1981 and the new faculty block was opened for use on 06.09.1982. Many subsequent improvements and additions have been undertaken. Today this Centre has five class rooms, five computer labs, a conference hall, an auditorium, an examination hall, & model post office, etc.
